Blue Muslin Doll

I started this doll last year. How good it feels to have it completed today. This was supposed to be my giveaway for the One World One Heart project, but I'm seriously having second thoughts. I want to keep it for myself. It looks great against our blue bedroom wall and I'm pretty sure I can have that ominous looking face in there without fear of nightmares. :)

It's made of muslin and printed cottons and mostly machine stitched. The size is approximately 18"x6". It's flat and meant to hang on a wall. (Click on the image for a larger view).

Inspiration From A Folk Art Basket

As I was thumbing through one of my folk art books, I stopped to study an image of a woven basket. The design had a human-like figure but no face. I thought is was really sweet and naturally I had to give my version a face.

I had to have something with a little bit of green in it since today is St Paddy's day but as you can see, this is about as far away from an Irish "anything" as you can get. :)

Look What I Bought!

Just arrived in the mail today is the above painting I bought from folk artist Annie Lane. I want to start painting again myself and have been scouring Internet photo albums and blogs for ideas. That's when I found Annie Lane on the online art gallery www.yessy.com.

I loved this painting as soon as I saw it. Look at the expression on the dog's face and the perked ears. I am so pleased with this work. I think Annie has found herself a repeat customer.
