Leaves

The leaves above were traced from two leaves I picked up the other day from my walk.

My house reno is still not completed. It's just a little enclosed space, a getaway from those pesky mosquitoes we have to live with in the summer. I have been dreaming of this place for 14 years and finally it's going to be a reality this year. But, oh my, to actually get a few days work done in a few days seems to be too much to hope for. I have been patient for a long time so I guess I can be (will have to be) patient a bit longer.

Last year hubby and I looked at some property we were set to buy for the purpose of building ourselves a new house. Honestly I am so glad that fell through. I must have been out of my mind to think we could deal with the frustrations of building a whole house when it's all I can do to deal with the setbacks of this little project. We're just getting old and cranky.

When this project does get finished, it really will be quite lovely and I will look forward to sharing some pics with my readers.

Woodland Sprite

I loosely traced a maple leaf for the head and an oak leaf for the body.

Back To Some Stitching

It's been awhile since I've tackled anything creative and it's actually good to take a break. Like when hubby and I work on the crossword puzzle in our local newspaper. We only get so far and then we have to walk away. When we come back to it, we see the clues and answers with fresh eyes and it all comes together. So it is with my stitching as well.

Above is one of three ornaments I started before my break. I finished it this morning. You get to see it without the ribbon hanger because it photographed better this way.

We had some cousins and a another couple (friends of the cousins) visit us from Estonia. We had a most wonderful time and did things that I only do when we have out of town visitors. A trip to Niagara Falls and a bus ride into Toronto to have lunch at the revolving restaurant on top of the CN Tower were the highlights. I wish we could have had more days together but they had to travel on to the U.S. to Miami and Nashville and New Orleans, I think.

The home renovations which I had hoped would be completed by now haven't even started. Our contractor friend is a very busy fellow. It looks like things will get underway next week (fingers crossed). I will post pics once that's done.

My plan as far as my creative endeavours go, is to finish up the two ornaments that are in progress and then to try out some new ideas. One of the ideas is to make some lawn ornaments out of wood and hope that I don't injure myself in the process. Saws, nails and hammers and I aren't the best of friends.
